In the category of about damned time, we learned today that The Rt. Rev. Prince Singh, bishop provisional of the Episcopal Dioceses of Eastern and Western Michigan, has been restricted from exercising all aspects of ordained ministry.
The announcement was made in light of pending Title IV allegations against him.
Presiding Bishop Michael Curry has recused himself in the matter. As a result, the Rt. Rev. Clifton Daniel III issued this restriction in his role as presiding bishop-designate
This ministry restriction will remain in effect until further notice.
It is a shame that it has taken such massive pressure to get the Presiding Bishop to do what should have been a knee-jerk reaction the very moment the complaint was filed.
And if we were members of the Michigan dioceses, between Houghland and Singh, and the corrupt way both cases have been handled thus far, we’d be tearing our hair out, even as we made our way to the ELCA.
Finally, consistent with Maya Angelou’s admonition to take people at their word the first time they show you who they are, we remain dubious that Michael Curry will act with integrity in this matter. But we are willing to be pleasantly surprised.
