David Valencia, a former Anglican priest who was sentenced to prison and required to register as a sex offender following a conviction for sexually assaulting a teenaged girl, has resurfaced in Florida.
Sources tell Anglican Watch that Valencia moved to Florida from Ligonier, PA, after local residents realized that he was working as the chef in “Table 105,” a now-defunct restaurant owned by his wife, Katherine A. Valencia.
Curiously, Valencia appears to be obfuscating his presence by supplying questionable information to the Florida sex offender registry.
Specifically, Florida records show Valencia as residing at 4305 Ne 21st Ave Apt 12, Fort Lauderdale, a low-end rental unit in what appears to be a former motel.
Yet area residents do not report seeing a man matching Valencia’s description at the property, and public records do not show Valencia residing at that location.
However, an investigation by Anglican Watch indicates that Valencia appears to live 6.4 miles away with his wife, Katherine Ann Valencia, at 3500 Oaks Clubhouse Dr Apt 111, Pompano Beach, FL, 33069.
That begs the question: Why would the Valencias need two rental units?
Relatedly, public records reveal two Florida businesses connected with Katherine: Simply by Word of Mouth, LLC, which is registered at her home address, and The Party Door, LLC, which is registered at 6700 NW 28th Ave, Fort Lauderdale, FL 33309. The latter is a residential address, and appears to be owned by Alejandro Araya-Toledo and Jennifer P Gigler.
Katherine is employed by Balistreri Real Estate, and serves as the office manager of the company’s Pompano Beach office.
Why is this data important?
It is important because our research indicates what appears to be an ongoing effort on Valencia’s part to conceal his whereabouts and obfuscate his places of employment.
Moreover, these actions appear part of a longstanding pattern: Valencia first tried to get ordained in the Episcopal Church, then was ordained in an Anglican church. At the time of his arrest, Valencia allegedly was working with children in a PCA church—that’s right, the same denomination as Tenth Presbyterian, which refused to conduct background checks on folks like Liam Goligher, who had a previous criminal conviction on his public records, there for all the world to see.
Additionally, as we mentioned earlier, Valencia allegedly worked for a restaurant owned by his wife while in Ligonier, PA.
Thus, we believe that his wife is a knowing participant in efforts to provide cover for her husband, thereby exposing children to risk. Again—are we supposed to believe that she doesn’t know about her husband’s alleged rental unit six miles from her home? And why rent two apartments? Or, if the Valencias are only renting one apartment, why is David Valencia’s sex offender registration not updated to reflect that fact?
And to be clear: Anyone who sexually abuses a child is a troubled soul, indeed, and not someone who should ever be in a position of trust. And the couple’s seeming efforts to conceal David Valencia’s past do nothing to reassure us.
We also note that both David and his wife are on social media. David is on Facebook at https://www.facebook.com/david.valencia.39904. Katherine is on Facebook at https://www.facebook.com/katherine.a.valencia.3.
So, in closing, three takeaways:
- Sources who have run into Valencia report seriously creepy vibes—even before they knew of his past. Our experience is that gut instincts are usually spot on, so we would be very cautious about Valencia.
- Valencia’s wife Katherine seems to be in the know and actively working to conceal her husband’s identity and whereabouts. That in itself spells danger, both as to David Valencia and Katherine Valencia. We would not trust either one in any matter, small or large. And we certainly would not frequent a restaurant or other business owned by the Valencias, or any organization in which they played a key role.
- We strongly suspect that Valencia’s information in the Florida sex offender registry is deliberately not up to date, and that he and his family are trying to create a situation in which authorities eventually lose track of him. Assuming that is the case, this is yet another warning sign.
So, use extreme caution if you encounter David Valencia, and do not allow children to be alone with him.
Anyone with information on Valencia’s actual whereabouts can report this information to the Florida sex offender registry via email at [email protected].
The information you provided is incorrect. A more thorough investigation would reveal the divorce documents between Kathy and David. By mentioning my mother, Kathy, you are unintentionally adding emotional stress to her, as she is not involved in this matter at all. I kindly request that you remove her name from the article, as she has not done anything wrong and deserves to move on from a difficult chapter in her life. Thank you for your attention to this matter.
Not involved in this matter at all?
By your own statement, your mother remained in contact with David for 17 years following his conviction for sexually abusing children—actions that occurred while he was in a position of trust. Surely it occurred to your mother that her decision to remain married to a child sex abuser reflected on her and her judgment/ethics. Nor would we find it easy to trust the personal or professional judgment of someone who remained married to a child sex offender for a period of years.
We also note a conspicuous omission from your comments, which is any concern for the victims of David’s criminal conduct.
As to your comments about research, we have received unconfirmed reports that David is now employed by Coral Ridge Country Club in Fort Lauderdale. Forewarned is forearmed.
In summary, we are mindful that predators often hurt people, including family members, beyond those legally recognized as victims. But at some point, the issue becomes one of tacit consent.
Or, as Maya Angelou famously said, “When someone shows you who are they are, it’s important to believe them the first time.”
Finally, our editor has experience with a similar situation. When a family member learned that her husband had been arrested for attempting to meet an individual he believed was a minor for sex, the family member filed for an emergency divorce the following morning. The divorce and reversion to her maiden name were approved approximately an hour later.
During the ensuing months, numerous additional issues emerged regarding the former husband, his personal and professional integrity, and more. It was a difficult period for all involved, but the appropriate response when someone sexually abuses a child is to leave, then and there. And her friends, family, and employer were entirely supportive of her decision to leave.
So, been there, done that, but in our view there is no set of circumstances that ever warrants remaining in a marriage with a pedophile.
If you had taken the time to research further before writing such a damming article you would find the divorce records for David and Katherine Valencia. Furthermore, you would see that they have had no contact since July, 2022. Please consider doing further research before you choose to name, mention, and highlight the names, residences, and work addresses of those that have cut ties with and remain no contact with David Valencia. These articles create ripple effects and can impact the lives of innocent people that have been an unfortunate part of David Valencia’s life.
