Spotlight on Abuse: Episcopal Church Treasurer Christine Hersom

In 2005 Episcopal church treasurer Christine Hersom was charged with embezzling more than $100,000 from Trinity Episcopal Church, Tilton, New Hampshire. Earlier the same year church warden and youth minister Scott Nash was charged with sexually assaulting four year old girls at the church and stealing $5,000 from its food pantry. Rector Janet Lombardo resigned but said that her decision was unrelated to the problems. Hersom was church treasurer from 1995 to 2001. Diocese of New Hampshire Bishop V. Gene Robinson did not make any statement about the case. Trinity Episcopal Church was closed in 2015.
