Spotlight on abuse: Episcopal priest Bryant Whitman Dennison

Focus on Abuse

A former interim priest at Grace Episcopal in Traverse, MI, was sentenced in 2016 to 180 days in prison and ongoing counseling after being accused of sexually assaulting three female parishioners. In a plea deal, the Rev. Bryant Whitman Dennison Jr, admitted to attempted fourth-degree sexual misconduct.

The criminal challenges followed a five-year suspension from ministry based on allegations dating from 2010. When his diocese of canonical residence stepped in and reinstated him, local prosecutors filed charges.

Under the terms of his probation, Dennison is forbidden from serving in any capacity as clergy.

Although newspaper reports suggest Dennison is a registered sex offender, Anglican Watch is unable to locate any such record.

Public records suggest Dennison lives at 420 Rivard Blvd, Grosse Pointe, MI 48230.
